5.0 out of 5 stars Unusual and charming knitting pattern book 7 May 2011
Format:Hardcover
The Beatrix Potter Knitting Book is charming. Obviously you would need to be familiar with her childrens books to appreciate this book.

There are a variety of things to make including household items such as cushions, rugs, cot & pram blankets etc as well as an interesting selection of adult and childrens knitting patterns.

Some of the garments have a distinctly Edwardian appearance which would perhaps have limited appeal, but the majority of patterns including motifs from Beatrix Potters books are delightful. I have shown the book to several people and the favourite was the Jeremy Fisher jumper.

Motifs incorporated in the design include Peter Rabbit, Mrs Tiggy Winkle, Squirrel Nutkin,Mrs Tittlemouse, Gemima Puddleduck, Benjamin Bunny, The Tailor of Gloucester and of course Jeremy Fisher.

I shall be knitting some of the baby & toddler items for my 1st grandchild (expected in June 2011) and feel sure that they will become treasured heirlooms. I just wish I had this book when my children were small!

5.0 out of 5 stars Knitting with a difference. 11 Mar 2009
Format:Hardcover
I used to have this book and lost it. I am thrilled to have it again and have made most of the patterns for my grandchildren over the years. The garments have a slightly old -fashioned air and are very true to the stories.. Children who love Beatrix Potter can wear the same clothes as the animals. Just check the pictures !

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun for all 12 July 2011
Format:Hardcover
I have had this book for many years ( since 1987)and have made most of the items in it. I find that both adults and children love the designs expecially if they are Beatrix Potter fans. It has a great range of items and is well worth owing. Not a book I will ever get rid off.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Book with Vintage Edge 14 Oct 2011
Format:Hardcover
Lovely book based on the works of Miss Potter. Although some of the creations would not be appropriate for this day and age the children and baby patterns are timeless.

There is a beautiful pattern for a caped coat and a lots of lace work and charts that could be adapted for needlepoint as well as intarsia.

The book is illustrated with pictures and quotes from the childhood tales and looking through I was given a whimsical warmth of an era long gone by. I nice addition to your knitting library.

3.0 out of 5 stars Old fashioned patterns 3 Feb 2014

Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
This book really works best as an inspiration for an experienced knitter as the patterns on the whole are old fashioned and probably today's children wouldn't really want to wear the clothes!
