In this lovely, coffee table, book, the Beatles are given the Mojo treatment. This is an exhaustive examination of the years 1961 to 1970, packed with photo's and articles by Beatles experts and writers such as Barry Miles, Spencer Leigh and Mark Lewisohn. There are also fascinating interviews with people involved with the group over the years, such as Neil Innes, Astrid Kirchherr and photographer Robert Whitaker. This really is for those who need to know every fact and detail of the band's time - from Richard DeLello (Apple house hippy) telling about his tasks in the office, to Cynthia Lennon discovering that while she thought John was leaving her in the morning to meditate alone in India, he was really going to collect mail from Yoko, to Linda's coy comment after meeting Paul ("she was," she smiled, "impressed to see his Magrittes..."). There is much to dip into here - interesting articles on the importance of Brian Epstein, on the Beatles recording "Revolver", along with original reviews, touring, meeting Elvis, the influence of Dylan, etc. I have many books in a similar format which suggest they offer much, but actually have little more than a lot of photo's and a few captions. This is actually one that you will want to delve into often and there is always something new to find. Also, enjoy the photo's - as the Editor says, "it's still impossible to find one where they don't look cool." They will always be the best band on the planet and this is a book for fans to enjoy and a real 'must have' in your Beatles library.
