These songs have been reissued countless times since Beatlemania. Most people might only listen to the Lennon cover of "Ain't She Sweet?", and maybe "Cry for a Shadow". Those and "My Bonnie", which led them to Brian Epstein, as the legend goes, are on "Anthology 1". The other tracks have ex-pat Sheridan on vocals. At the time, the Beatles depended on him, but later on, the tables seemed to have turned. He has done interviews on a few budget docs, and might pop up at a Beatlefest. These were recorded in Hamburg by bandleader Bert Kaempfert. It's not always clear if it's the Beatles on every track. Some say the Beat Brothers, though the Beatles also used that because their name sounded like a dirty word in German. I used to have a budget LP called "Die Grossen 12" (the large 12), but I sold it. I have another LP from Italy, but I have it more for posterity than to play. Theses tracks are ambiguous to many and could be anybody. Some reissues say that Stuart Sutcliffe is on them, but he left by the time these tracks were cut. The rest, of course, is history.
