Product Description

Product Description

This irresistible Bauhaus-inspired pack contains a book on one of the great design movements of modernism alongside an elegant version of the simplest memory game of all, played with two packs of cards which the players must pair. The book contains a succinct, lively history of the movement, plus extended captions for each of the iconic images which feature on the cards - the people, buildings, designs or artefacts that shaped our modern design world. The whole is contained in a screened wooden box: the ideal gift for your most design-conscious and perfectionist friend.

Concentrate now! 27 Nov 2007
By Robin Benson TOP 100 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Format:Paperback
A sort of unusual package. Open the eighteen centimeters square box and inside is an eighty page square book and two packs of identical cards. The cards are for playing concentration and the book devotes a page to each of the fifty-two cards which carry a different Bauhaus item (people, products, graphics, architecture etc) on one side.

Nicely the Bauhaus feel runs through all the items, especially the book which, in straightforward captions, reveals a lot of detail about the pictured items.

It's the sort of item that graphic designers and architects might enjoy. Just the thing to play between commissions and get on a Bauhaus learning curve.

There are many good books about The Bauhaus, but nothing quite like this! If you are not familiar with The Bauhaus, its people, its history or its stunning modernist crafts, artworks and architecture, then this is an ideal, bite-sized introduction. If you ARE a fan already, then you will LOVE this excellent and unusual game!
