Format: Paperback
This book is an excellent study of Arsenal and Spurs; the history of both clubs, their highs and their lows, the great managers and the great players who have played for each club.....and sometimes for both. The author looks in detail at the Spurs double of 1960-61 and the first Arsenal double ten years later. Which was the better of the two and why? I won't spoil things by giving the author's opinion. Read it for yourself.
As an Arsenal fan I found it enlightening to read about Spurs. As fans we may joke about them not having won the league for more 50 years but, in all honesty, I didn't fully appreciate what a great side Spurs had in the 1960s until I read this book. Whilst the rivarly between both teams will remain, a little appreciation for some of the respective achievements of both clubs isn't a bad thing. The Battle of London is an unbiased account (the Author is a Tottenham fan) and is both critical and supportive of both clubs in equal measure.
The final chapter has various tables of comparative stats (league and cup performance etc) and has been fully updated.
An excellent book that's well worth the time and money I invested in it.
