An invaluable and informative introduction 15 Mar. 2010
By Midwest Book Review - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
Psychotherapy can be an intimidating concept. That's why "The Basics of Psychotherapy: An Introduction to Theory and Practice", by academician and psychologist Bruce E. Wampold is such an invaluable and informative introduction helping to demystify the theory and practice of psychotherapy. Part of the outstanding "Theories of Psychotherapy Series" published by the American Psychological Association, "The Basics Of Psychotherapy" provides an overview of the history of psychotherapy theories, how theory relates to practice, how theoretical orientations are selected by practitioners, and what can be expected in a psychotherapy sessions. For students and non-specialist readers with an interest or involvement with psychotherapy, "The Basics Of Psychotherapy" is an ideal introductory and highly recommended for personal, professional, academic, and community library Psychology reference collections.

Good book quick but technical 9 Sept. 2014
By Amazon Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
The book has a good overview of the history of psychotherapy. Comparing therapies and presenting the problems with quantifying what works and why, this book can open ones eyes to the problems in determining the best method of therapy.

Wampold 'Theories of Psychotherapy' 27 Dec. 2010
By Al Macdonald - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
Headline text for this APA series. A clear account of methodology in the criticism of psychotherapy research. Not a ground breaking text like Wampold's 2001 masterwork.
