I love this series of compilations but as with all series some are better than others and tis is a better one.
The first cd is livelier than the second but there isn't a song |I'd fastforward on either and although some choices are eclectic-JCB song?-when listened to uniterrupted they flow really well, i've had cd2 on my player for the past week and intend buying some cds by groups I wasn't aware of until the Bands 06 like Captain. Highly recommended.

A rocking great time!

`The Bands 06' is a 2 disc compilation, comprised mainly on British/European acts.
Styles range from folk/electronica (Beth Orton's `Conceived), electronica (Royksopp's `What else is there', Depeche Mode's `Precious', the swirling `I decline' by Union of knives), dance/rock (the brilliant disco-tinged `Nobody move, nobody get hurt' by We are Scientists) to guitar rock, which is just about everything else.
Other standouts are `Break the night with colour' by Verve frontman Richard Ashcroft, `Rock & roll queen' by Subways, `This time' by Starsailor' and the calming yet chirpy `Hoppipolla' by Icelandic quartet Sigur Rós.
Also featured are `Talk' by Coldplay, `Suddenly I see' by KT Tunstall, `Put your records on' by Corinne Bailey Rae, and `Naïve' by Kooks (look out for them).
I must mention here that every track stands out. Compilations like this are always a great introduction to acts one may otherwise never hear of.

Great assortment of rock and alternative rock bands

This two disc album set features an assortment of rock/alt rock groups that have been around for a while. All bands are contemporary meaning they have been around since mid 90's. There's about 40 odd songs all up on this 2 set CDs and well worth the listen. If you are a fan of rock music like I am - you'll absolutely love this double set album release.
Disc 1 features 3 great bands and songs to begin with, The Kooks, Hard-Fi and Coldplay with their hit songs. The other stand outs on this volume are 'Apply Some Pressure' by Maximo Park, 'Anysound' by The Vines and 'Lost & Found' by Feeder. Another goody is the song by Placebo "Because I want You" which has a great sounding riff. This CD has some great songs and is good to have on for dance music at a rock party.
Disc 2 features more great bands like Sigur Ros, Massive Attack, Goldfrapp and Oasis.
Overall this CD can't be missed, if you are a bonafida rock enthusiast. You will listen with a happy and content smile. I found all the songs of a great quality and easy to have as background music or music in a party scene.
