By Jessi VINE™ VOICE
Format:Paperback
'The Bailey Game' is a story that will comfort and vindicate any child who is a victim of bullying. I was once badly bullied by classmates. It felt as if I were trapped in a living nightmare, one that was stuck on repeat. Reading 'The Baily Game', I felt the same nausea, the same terror, the same sense of helplessness wash over me all over again - the prose is that powerful. Celia Rees has a gift for putting herself in the shoes of her readers.

The main character is an intelligent, popular girl named Alex Lewis who is forced to make a difficult choice: should she defend the new girl Lauren, who is being cruelly bullied, or should she ignore it or even join in - as she did once before...? This book destroys the notion that all bullies are just evil, twisted people and shows that even the nicest children have the potential to hurt others, simply by standing by and saying nothing.

The ending is bittersweet, a mixture of triumph (yeah! The good girls won!) and painful sadness, which unfolds as the reader gradually finds out what happened to Michael Bailey. This book should be on every Year 6 reading list in every school.

We read it at school and it really grabs you - right from the first moment! Alex Lewis sees that a girl is being bullied and she knows 'the game' is starting again - she was a bully once. The Bailey Game 9 Dec 2005
Format:Paperback
This is the first 'Celia Rees' book I have read.
The story is about bullying and a girl, Alex Lewis, battle to not be part of it. The Bailey Game (named after Michael Bailey) has started again with the new girl called Lauren Price
Is history going to repeat itself?
How will Alex deal with it?
You neeed to read this tale of horror to find out what happened to Michael Bailey and whether it happens again!
