Product Description

Product Description

She says she's pregnant. Somehow you resist the urge to flee screaming from the building. You sit and nod as she speaks for another thirty minutes. You hear only two words: 'I'm pregnant.' You go to a bookshop to find something, anything, that will help you understand the mixture of emotions currently bubbling like acid in your brain. But every book for prospective fathers presumes one thing, one single falsehood - that because you had the ability to physically procreate you must be a mature, upstanding citizen. Wrong. You're a mess, how can you raise a child? You have one primary project in life, Project You, and that's not going well. You didn't budget for additional events that would develop into Project-You-And-Significant-Others-Who-Will-Depend-On-You-Forever. This book is written for you, he who sees his life being stripped away. You might survive.

About the Author

ADAM BROPHY is a psychotherapist and journalist. His Irish Times column, "A Dad's Life", is immensely popular. He lives in West Cork with his wife and two adored (if maddening) daughters.

Awful 9 Jun 2009
Format:Paperback
Seems like any mediocre columnist can string a few columns into a book these days and flog it to the masses. Poorly written, completely lacking in insight and with precious little to say, Mr Brophy must be pinching himself in disbelief that this trash has made it into a book.
