Review

"Warren delights with the first volume in a new trilogy. Her gift for creating very sexy, poignant romances should endear her to readers - and ensure their reading pleasure all night long."--Romantic Times BOOKreviews on My Fair Mistress

Product Description

Everyone knows the Byron brothers are "mad, bad, and dangerous." But the devilishly desirable fourth son, Drake, is too scholarly to misbehave . . . or is he?

Lord Drake Byron has no time in his busy life to worry about taking a wife. He is more interested in the unbreakable code he has developed to defeat Napoleon's forces. Little does he know that the irresistibly lovely new housekeeper he's hired is really a French secret agent.

Sebastianne Dumont is not at all who she seems to be. Forced to spy to save her family, she embarks on a mission that takes an even more dangerous turn when she falls in love with the surprisingly tempting man she must ultimately betray. And if she succeeds in her mission, will she also break Lord Drake's heart, while leaving her own behind?

Great book to send you asleep if you are an insomniac 1 Sep 2011
By sarah stewart - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
This is a mediocre and "been done thousand times" story about a French spy, Sebastianne, who infiltrates the house of Lord Drake to steal a cipher that he is working on. Her job is to betray him, but love gets in the way.

I am afraid I do not have a good word to say about this book because it has been a terrible disappointment. On the whole, I have really enjoyed the Byron books. But Drake has turned out not at all what I expected him to be. In previous books he was a real geek, so I was looking forward to reading about him being teased away from his life as the mad professor. Instead, we got a rake who could add, which did not fit with his portrayal in previous books. He was charmless and did nothing for me as a hero. Likewise, Sebastianne did not endear herself to me. I just couldn't feel any sympathy for her - I just could not get a handle on her motivation. Long story short, although there was lots of sex in this book, there was no passion and I felt no emotion for the main characters, and didn't for the life of me feel any sexual tension or understand how they feel in "love". The plot was slow and boring and consequently I didn't finish it.

Personally, I would read Tempted By His Kiss and Seduced By His Touch. I'd definitely give this one a miss.

Loved it 23 Feb 2012

I don't know what all the bad reviews are about (partly because none of them actually explain WHY they hated it). I LOVED this installment to the Byron series. I was afraid I wouldn't like it because I'm not a fan of betrayal like this in romance novels. But this I liked. Unlike other certain authors, Warren didn't write a big scene where the hero calls the heroine bad names for what she was forced to do. Those just ruin the whole romance for me.

As usual, her love scenes were steamy, easy to imagine, and intense. Don't be fooled by the bad reviews. This IS one not to skip.

Is still a lovely story!!! 16 Aug 2011
By Tisa - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I totally disagree with the other reviewers who belittled this story with few or scarce stars. I happened to like this novel just because the interesting plot was well weaved and written. I loved the characters and the way they interacted. I don't understand what the other reviewers were expecting from a history romance story? A book styled a la Dan Brown as in "The DaVinci Code"? Be serious. Yes, I know our hero is a mathematician. So what? I wouldn't want to read about binomial theorem or indefinite integrals in a story of romance. So give the author a break, will you! The book it's worth the money, and it's definitely entertaining.
