Book Description

20 Jan 2011

A gentle routine for your baby, trusted by thousands of mums, from bestselling author Megan Faure

Some of the most common parental concerns in baby's first year are things like; why is baby crying, how do I get baby to sleep well and how do I make time for myself? The answers to these questions and more, lie in a baby's sensory world.

The Babysense Secret is based on the simple idea, that by observing your baby, you can determine when he wants to sleep, feed, or interact with you and thereby establish a routine structured around your baby's needs. This routine will lay the groundwork for a calm and contented first year, ensuring positive early sensory experiences leading to a happier childhood.

Special features provide information and top tips on popular parenting subjects, such as baby massage, colic remedies and caring for premature babies. So for a happier, more contented child, create a routine based around your baby.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this new book, and the rest of her books. 15 July 2011
I bought this new BabySense Secret book as I'm now expecting our second baby (I have both the SleepSense and ToddlerSense books also by Megan) and have to say that I think this book is brilliant already. I'm only 18wks now, but have read it cover to cover already and love the format and how clear it is to dip in and out of.

I was late finding this author, so skipped the BabySense book but imagine that perhaps this is a mix of that and SleepSense, but know I'm going to refer to it no end once this baby arrives!

We were blessed with a beautiful baby boy last time who was early and arrived quite dramatically - who then snack-breastfed and catnapped for his first 6 months of life leading to a very exausted mummy and daddy. The SleepSense book was the one thing that finally got him napping regularly in the daytime (which then in turn leasd to longer stretchs of night sleep) and so this time around, with a toddler to care for too, I now feel armed with the information we need to ensure this bubs is going to be as settled and calm as we can help him/her to be, which will hopefully lead to a more rested us!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent 22 July 2014
Can't recommend this book highly enough. Megan Faure offers helpful, insightful and practical advice at every turn and my wife and I have found it invaluable in raising our (now) seven-month-old. It really, really works and our daughter was soon into a healthy and happy routine. Everybody says she's exceptionally happy and advanced for her age and that's partly down to reading this book both before and after the birth. Five stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars great book 30 April 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I have found this book very useful in setting a routine with my first baby. It gives tips on nap times, self-settling, when and how to entertain your baby without them becoming over-stimulated. It is broken down into age brackets as things can change so quickly with a new baby! It is an easy to follow plan, none of the strict routines you may find with other childcare "experts", it provides a lot of good tips and a good base for finding your routine by watching baby's cues.
So far it has helped me immensely in getting to grips with being a new mum and I would recommend it to any mums-to-be.
