I bought "The Baby's Catalogue" for my 16-month old daughter, Ruby. She loves to point at her favourite everyday things pictured in the book like the radio; the baby sitting on the potty examining his belly-button; the washing machine and the guinea pig (she even makes guinea pig 'squeaks' now when she sees the picture!). I like the way the book consists mainly of illustrations - it means that I can describe these pictures to Ruby in my own way. I also like how variations of the same object are pictured. Ruby points out which teapot or pram she likes. I pointed at the pram with two babies inside and asked, "Would Ruby like two babies?" and she quickly replied, "No!"! I find the pictures so charming and familiar. "The Baby's Catalogue" is a beautifully quaint book and it appears that there has been a lot of thought behind it's layout. It is a lot of fun!
