This is a second book in the series about Kiki. Still one to go!
"The wedding Diaries" was not a hit with me but I thought I will give a go to "The Baby Diaries". Since I have a baby myself I love reading about pregnancies, even if it is fiction. I must say, I really liked this book. It was really good to read about other person who felt almost exactly like I did, who felt scared, then excited, then scared again. It had me nodding along with agreement because I could sympathise with the Kiki and the way she feeling, I could share the birth stories and I could envy Kiki how easy her birth was. And I totally knew how it is when the hormones are taking us into their possession. This time I loved Kiki, she was much more mature than in the first book, and the conversations between her and Thom were brilliant! He was perfect, and it was really nice to read that he is not afraid to tell how he is feeling in this whole situation.
What I loved in the book is the fact that Sam Binnie has treated the pregnancy with such a humour, not serious: "I am going to be a MOTHER, I am PREGNANT, I am the most important person in the world, and my pregnancy is the one and only" approach. Thanks for that! It was a roller coaster of feelings: ecstasy, doubts, angst about the future. I think that this made the book so real for me, and I think that in reality all the moms - to - be feel like that.
What disturbed me in the whole reading is the part after the baby was born. I'd like to have such a nice and already well - bred baby. Baby that is sleeping soundless, that cries only when it's hungry and stinks only occasionally, ie. when you are going out. And not after every feeding.

The problem with follow up books is that they dont have a good enough story, and seems that they are just a after thought as the authors have to do a second book and this seems like the easy option! However the baby diaries aim pleased to say is not like that its a book you can read without reading the wedding diaries first. We start again being intoduced to Kiki and thom, who are going though their normal day to day live, when Kiki realises that their is a chance she may be pregnant, and in true Kiki style how long it takes her to do the test! How they tell the family's, anti-natal classes, to when the baby is born, then we start with the mother and baby classes and the close bonds that can be formed. This book made me laugh, and I had a smile on my face throughout the book, the only down side is the after the baby is born everything just seems to go a bit to easy! To me these seem to be a bit like the shopaholic books but still worth reading and still worth paying for ( but even better if free )

In the follow up to The Wedding Diaries, author Sam Binnie has yet again produce a very funny read.

Soon after the honeymoon Kiki has a strange feeling something is missing. Yes, her time of the month has not arrived.
A positive pregnancy test confirms that Kiki and Thom are about to begin an new journey into parenthood.

In diary style, this novel will have you laughing out loud. If you are already a parent new or otherwise you will be nodding
and chuckling at some of those, only parents understand, moments. If you are thinking of becoming a parent this will
give you a taste of what is to come.

It is 5 years since I was pregnant last but this was such a fabulous funny read. Very entertaining.

Thank you to Avon for a review copy. This did not influence my review in any way

I got this book as the kindle version as it was recommended for me. I won't spoil the story but needless to say it involves a couple who find themselves 'with child'. It has some predictable elements to it, as all good chic lit tends to, but I really enjoyed this story and found some funny moments made me actually laugh out loud and quote bits to my husband (not a chic lit fan!). It is very well written as really easy to read, I read it in two evenings as I just wanted to see what the ending was. A good read if you enjoy this type of book, I shall be looking for more work from this author as it was the first book of theirs I read but I really enjoyed it.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and couldn't put it down. A fantastic follow up to The Wedding Diaries, well written with lots of laugh out loud moments. Whether you are a Mum or not (like me), you will relate to Kiki & her friends & family & the trials of becoming a new Mum. I hope Sam Binnie doesn't leave us waiting too long for her next book!

When a copy of The Baby Diaries dropped through my letter box I knew that I'd better quickly buy a copy of The Wedding Diaries to read first so that I could get up-to-date with Kiki and Thom's story.

Kiki and Thom have just returned home from their honeymoon and are struggling to get back into the swing of everyday life but Kiki has this niggling feeling that she's forgotten something... and it soon dawns on her what it is... she might be pregnant!

Once they've gotten over the initial shock of being pregnant so soon in their married life, Kiki and Thom start to look forward to their new life together as a family even if it is a completely daunting prospect.

Kiki chronicles her pregnancy through her diaries which made for some very entertaining reading... at times I couldn't help but laugh out loud at some of the situations but at other times I was cringing at what I was reading.

I have to confess I wasn't sure how I was going to get on with this book not being a parent myself but I needn't have worried as there weren't any really graphic details in there about pregnancy or the birth itself... infact I've heard more graphic tales from friends who have had kids!

Although Kiki and Thom are the main characters we do also get to meet an interesting mix of other characters including Kiki's family, her workmates & clients, their friends as well as other couples from their ante-natal group but I have to say that Thom was my out and out favourite character in this book... why can't I meet someone like him!

As I understand it there is a third part to come of Kiki and Thom's story so I'm definitely looking forward to reading this to see what the future has in store for them now that they've encountered two of the major events that could happen in their lives... getting married and having a baby.
