Format: Hardcover
This book is one of a series published by Pen and Sword Military compiled by GREHAN and MACE. As it name suggests, this one includes all the Despatches relating to the British Expeditionary Force in 1939 and 1940. Although not clear in the title, the book includes the Despatch of Lieutenant General Sir Alan BROOKE who commanded the British troops in France post-Dunkirk.

There are three despatches; the main one by Lord GORT covering the B.E.F. from 3 September 1939 until 31 May 1940; Operation Dynamo covering the evacuation, with the third featuring the previously mentioned despatch covering 12 June to 19 June 1940.

There is little commentary in this book, with the Despatches speaking for themselves. They are generally informative and useful commentaries on the events and decisions taken in 1940. The despatches are available free to download at: http://www.ibiblio.org/hyperwar/UN/UK/londongazette.html

However, in spite of that, some people will find a hard copy containing all three despatches useful and value for money.

Format: Hardcover
Fair, but not very long, it is an official report by Lord Gort, not very broad and the navy part is not a great read.

A Ripoff 31 Oct. 2014
By Stan Mark Kaplan - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover Verified Purchase
This "book" is simply a reprint of three documents (the despatches of Gort, Brooke, and Ramsay) available for free on the web (for example, at http://www.ibiblio.org/hyperwar/UN/UK/londongazette.html). Unless you have a need for nicely typeset copies gussied-up with a few pictures, this book is a complete waste. I returned it.
