Product Description

From the Back Cover

"Intelligence comes into being when the brain discovers its fallibility, when it discovers what it is capable of, and what it is not."
KRISHNAMURTI

This comprehensive record of Krishnamurti's teaching is an excellent, wide-ranging introduction to the great philosopher's thought. Within general discussions of conflict, fear, violence, religious experience, self-knowledge, and intelligence, Krishnamurti examines specific issues, such as the role of the teacher and tradition; the need for awareness of 'cosmic consciousness'; the problem of good and evil; and traditional Vedanta methods of help for different levels of seekers. Krishnamurti discusses these themes with Jacob Needleman, Alain Naude, and Swami Venkatasananda, among others. 'The Awakening of Intelligence' is indispensable for all those intent on a fuller understanding of Krishnamurti's teaching.

J. Krishnamurti (1895-1986) was a world-renowned spiritual teacher who, for more than fifty years, shared his message with people of all ages, races, and backgrounds. He wrote many books, including 'First and Last Freedom, Freedom from the Known', and 'Last Talks at Saanen 1985'.

4.0 out of 5 stars Conversations with a teacher of intelligence 19 Oct 1997
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to rid yourself of fear and become at peace with yourself and your surroundings? If you have, this is the book for you. Through a series of conversations, J. Krishnamurti gives a breif overview of many of his contraversial beliefs. This is a wonderful introduction to a different world. A world without avarice and malice, but with love and intelligence filling the void of the modern man/woman. This book is a great starting block not only to the works of Krishnamurti, but to a new way of thinking an living.

4.0 out of 5 stars HAVE THIS BOOK FOR FREE 11 Aug 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
jiddu-krishnamurti.net has this book on the net for free. Save yourself the £11+ and read it for free...i've bought the other books by krishnamurti that i havent been able to read on the web and a man like Krishnamurti is timeless. We have all been conditioned to react to certain scenarios within our lives and K simply tells how we should all look with a fresh pair of eyes. You read the reviews that say 'this book changed my life' when you read the reviews for dr steve peters, paul mckenna et al but this book and 'freedom from the known' were seriously ones that changed the way i look at things.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just Great 22 May 2014
By arthur
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
A great book which helps you expand your thinking beyond your limited cultivated mind which has been conditioned by outside factors. Very easy to read and understand but its a book you need to read a couple of times if you are serious about awakening-enlightenment or life in general.

5.0 out of 5 stars The words are peace. 11 Feb 2014
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This man has inspired many of the end of 20Th century spiritual leaders in the world. I feel him in the words coming from Tolle & Ram Dass and that generation. Enjoy this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Surrender 9 Feb 2014
By Alan
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book speaks the language of life. One might need to read it again and again and again in order to get the message. If your journey is genuine inquiry, you're on the right track. If you happen to be a seeker looking for something like salvation or enlightenment, stop fooling with yourself and please go back to your world!

Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Had this on my Kindle but decided to buy the hard copy as I felt the needed to flick back. It was quite hard to follow in the beginning but later I found myself very much in the conversation that the book is about. It raised alot of questions about how we think and why.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not "I love it" but one meets wisdom in action - five stars for that
The dialogues are excellent. I would certainly recommend the book to anyone who is serious enough to look at his or her life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awakening of Intelligence
The definition of five stars as 'I Love It' somewhat defeats the purpose. This is not a book to 'love'. I've been aware of Krishnamurti sine the mid 70s. Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Oh my...
Never have I seen the spiritual path dissected with such a painstaking, almost scientific mind. This really does take a mysterious subject and show the reader how simple it is.
