5.0 out of 5 stars Buy this book! 13 July 2008
This is a wonderful book for fans of Asian food whether vegan or not. I love having 9 areas of Asia covered in one book. The recipes are well laid out and very easy to follow and most of the ingredients are already in the store cupboard of those of us who cook Asian food regularly so there's no need for lengthy shopping lists - you can just pick up the book and start cooking. Lots of the recipes are pretty quick to cook too which makes it great to use after a day at work.
I've only had this book a couple of weeks and I've already tried 8 recipes and they've all been excellent - especially the Split Pea Fritter Curry - love it!

5.0 out of 5 stars She's a genius 8 Mar 2010
I never, ever write reviews, but in this occasion the book is so good I've got to share. If you like Asian flavours, healthy and simple vegetarian dishes with a kick, this is the one. This is first time I buy a cook book and I am compelled to try different recipes every day (normally I find two I like and use them until I get bored, then find another book)This morning I tried the carrot, cabbage, split mung bean tomato soup, thinking it wasn't going to work...I was wrong. I wisked up the recipe in 30 mins and it tastes delicious. Can't wait until lunchtime.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best.Vegan.Asian.Cookbook.EVER! 25 Jun 2010
I lived in different countries in Asia for over six years and when I decided to make the move back to a Western country, went into huge withdrawals for all of my favourite dishes. This book to me has been an absolute lifesaver and has seen me through some tough times! As with all my cookbooks, recipes I like get a wee sticker beside them, and this book is riddled. I love it!!

The book is very well laid out, with clear, easy to follow recipes sectioned into their country cuisine. Especially impressive is the Korean section, the dishes from which taste exactly like the real thing. While overall there have been a few duds, the majority of the recipes I have tried have been amazing and so close to what I remember.

The only problem some people might find is that, being quite authentic dishes, there are a lot of ingredients that people might not be familiar with, and that, depending on where you live, might be hard to get hold of. The ingredients lists are also in particularly small print, which for me makes for a bit of squinting mid recipe when I'm buzzing around the kitchen!

I am a vegan and a huge fan of Asian food so this book is perfect for me, possibly my favourite cookbook from a considerable collection. The book is laid out by country which is great, with some pictures in the centre to get your appetite going. The only thing about these recipes is that some of them have a lot of elements to prepare and a wide selection of spices. This is fine for me as I already had a rather well stocked pantry, but you might need to pop out to your local Asian food store for a few of the ingrediants if you dont already have them.

I had brought this book to get ideas and find some recipes that I can make for the whole family without having to cook two different things because of my little one who has some food allergies and intolerances. The objective of buying this book was therefore a) to ensure that my little one did not feel left out from what the rest of the family were eating, b) ensure that the family were eating more vegetables c) get varied recipes that would be tasty, look good and be nourishing.

I have to admit that this book does tick all of my objectives and therefore I have rated it 5 stars. As this book does have copious recipes from nine Asian countries that will definitely keep you busy in the kitchen cooking authentic dishes that are wholesome, tasty and healthy. With recipes such as these I believe that it is easy to be a vegetarian, vegan or to ensure that you consume more vegetables without it being a chore.

5.0 out of 5 stars Authentic, flavoursome and achieveable recipes 29 Jun 2008

Wow. This is a superb book, with a selection of recipes from different parts of the world introduced in a friendly, informative style. Lots of delightful combinations of flavours using straightforward techniques and avoiding outlandish ingredients. It's nicely laid out, and has a middle section of photos illustrating some of the dishes. A real treasure - so glad I found it. I've already used it much more than more expensive, glossy books which remain sitting on the shelf.
