Head-bangingly good 22 July 2003
Format:Audio CD
I have the two other Thrice albums, and this is easily as good as The Illusion of Safety. The lead guitar, whilst it does not quite stand out as much as before, still delivers the complex guitar parts. Rhythm guitar as always munches its way through a variety of powerfully distorted chords. The bass is much improved as is the drums. The songs themselves seem better written with more musicality put in them, and they flow wonderfully together. The lyrics are outstanding, unfortunately it's a bit hard to hear on occasions. Still amazing though.

Too hardcore?? Meh... 26 Feb 2005
Format:Audio CD
Not so much heavy metal as post-hardcore. Similar to so many, yet so different I can't compare. This is a wonderful album, and not as hardcore as others would say. The singing outweighs the shouting and screaming, so this is probably a post-hardcore record. The tunes aren't "catchy" as such, but are enjoyable to listen to. "The Artist in the Ambulance" IS THE TRACK! Awesome, awesome, awesome. My 3rd fav track of all-time behind System of a Down-Toxicity and Funeral for a Friend-Escape artists never die. Download them if ur able, cos if u like this u'll most likely love them. Anyway, yeh this record is a worthy purchase, not for the die hard metallers probably, but for those just under that category.

Their Best Work 12 Nov 2005
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
I love this album, Thrice are one of my favourite bands and this is easily their best album in my opinion. I love their other albums, but this is the only one that has me completely gripped every track. This album shows a lot of the range of stuff they can do, songs like 'All That's Left' and 'Stare At The Sun' are good, fairly easy on the ears songs, and great for people who maybe haven't heard Thrice before. Contrastingly there's 'Paper Tigers' which is an awesome track, some people say it's too heavy, but I think it's great that for just one track on the album, they completely let go and thrash out what is actualy an incredible song, and it's a bit of a throw-back to their earlier days of pumelling guitar riffs found on 'Illusion Of Safety' and 'Identity Crisis' but not so much on this. The entire album manages to create a mood, an atmosphere, and I think it's a credit to the band, and especialy Dustin, that they can keep this up for an entire album. This album is a must-have, and this band are a credit to their genre, I strongly reccomend this album.
