About the Author

This book’s award-winning translator and primary author, Gary Gagliardi, is America’s leading authority on Sun Tzu’s The Art of War. A frequent guest on radio and television talk shows, Gary has written fifteen books on strategy. Ten of his books on Sun Tzu's methods have won award recognition in business, self-help, career, sports, philosophy, multicultural, and youth nonfiction categories. Gary began studying Sun Tzu’s philosophy over thirty years ago. His understanding of strategy was proven in the business world, where his software company became one of the Inc. 500 fastest-growing companies in America and won numerous business awards. After selling his software company, Gary began writing about and teaching Sun Tzu’s strategic philosophy full time. Today he splits his time between Seattle and Las Vegas, living with his wife, Rebecca, and travels extensively for speaking engagements all over the world. @strategygary --This text refers to the Paperback edition.

As a sales manager I've read lots of "How to Sell" books, gone to numerous seminars, etc. This gives your sales team some ancient lessons that can be used to get the appointment, convince them to buy, and keep their business. Get it for yourself, or get one for every member of you team.

I am been in sales for 20 years and this book is spot on. This is a book all sales professionals should review periodically. Written by an entrepeneur who successfully built a successful software company, this is an opportunity to have him be your mentor.

The hands-down winner among the "Sun Tzu Sales Books" 4 April 2009
By Mike - Published on
Format: Hardcover
I also own Gerald A. Michaelson's Sun Tzu Strategies for Selling: How to Use The Art of War to Build Lifelong Customer Relationships...which is an excellent book and one that I highly recommend...but if you must choose between the two, Gary Gagliardi's format is the most dynamic, the most inspiring, the most useful.

On the left side of the page, you get an English translation of "Art of War." On the right, Gagliardi's interpretation of how Sun Tzu's words apply to modern-day selling.

In April 2009, we are most certainly in a war. One day we'll look back on these days and "how we made it through them," but the time I'm writing this review...we are IN THEM, waist-deep, fighting for survival. Make it through Gagliardi's book and you might "make it through" the current economic typhoon.

Sales is no joke. Professional selling demands a skilled warrior. Does that describe you? If it does, get this book. NOW.
