Lovely book and very insightful, filled with wonderful drawings by very talented artists- including the much loved Glen Keane- my only gripe with this book is that it doesn't at all mention the end credits! This lost a star for me because I adored the art of the credits (and on a personal note I found it wonderfully refreshing to see a credits sequence that honoured the hardworking artists etc before the 'stars') and that wonderfully charming credits artwork was a big motivation in my purchasing of this book and so I was very disappointed to see nothing of it in there.

But, to keep this positive, this is a fantastic book that offers some beautiful artwork and valuable information, recommended for all!

Enchanting. 13 Jun 2011
Format:Hardcover
First watching this film I was blown away by the colour and atmosphere, and the book is no different.

The character illustrations are raw and expressive, making the book seem very dynamic and gives you a real walkthrough of how they came to be and reasons for them to be in the film. Glen Keane's traditional pencil sketches are littered throughout the book to break up the digital images. The book itself draws you into this world with wonderful renditions of the environment, even the inside of the tower and the paintings that the character creates herself.

In terms of reading the beginning is a little long winded, a foreword, history of the tale and then pages that explore shapes all a bit unescessay, interesting but it could have been cut back to something shorter and the pages used for something else.

The quality of the book is brilliant, the images are bright and vibrant and well layed out. Overall a good buy!

Hair raising! 2 Nov 2011
By Tenchi
Format:Hardcover
Shames me to say, I only just watched this movie for the first time last week. I loved it instantly, the art, the animation and music was amazing. I was then hoping there would be an artbook and fortunately it seems like the more art driven movies are always supplemented by artbooks.

My book was the hardback version, I try to always get hardback, I think in the long run they will last longer. And this one seems to be of good quality. There are lots of great artwork in the form of concepts, storyboard and some mood pictures. As this is a 3D animation, I do think the 3D artists are not represented here adequately. Some renders of their pre-production final sculpts or wires in whatever 3D scultping modeling package they use wouldn't have gone amiss.

Overall this is a good book, lots of pictures and a good balance with the right amount of accompanying text. A fine addition to my collection of artbooks ^_^'
