By A Customer
Format:Paperback
This book contains a superb collection of diagrams exploring every emotion and expression in physical theatre and mime, and is backed up in the text by a great deal of good advice for the absolute beginner, and tips for the more experienced actor or mime artist. An invaluable tool for those starting out in mime or physical theatre, it also offers a wealth of information and ideas for those wishing to plan their own silent theatre project and many effective techniques for expression that can be adopted by the speaking actor. Rarely has the human body's ability to express emotion been so neatly and concisely catalogued.

Valuable for some 8 April 2008
By Matt - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
The first publication of this was in French in the 1920s so a modern post-Chaplain American artist looking for a silent theatre resource may be a bit dissapointed. The book is unofficially broken up into two parts: a detail description of facial, hand, and body gestures which can be used as templates for communicating and the author's advice on how to approach the creation of new Pantomimes. The book is a good study in Pantomime, a particular type of wordless narrative derived from commedia dell'arte, but not about wordless / silent theater in general.
