As the title suggests, this is the best photography book I've read, and I've read more than I care to think about. I should state that I am an amateur photography with relatively little experience (~2 years). The book is well structured with chapters on all the important aspects of photography such as film, composition, landscapes, wildlife etc. In particular I found the new chapter on "Into the Boondocks" very useful. Each chapter contains beautiful photographs to illustrate the tips and advice and the writing is easy to follow but not patronising. My photography has improved by reading this book. Top marks for a great book.

I recently got into photography and needed a guide to this new world. This book turned out to be perfect for this purpose. I basically provides an analysis of the art of taking a photograph without laying down solid rules. Various techniques are presented and analysed. I think that this book is mostly suited for people discovering this art and not for the experienced photographer. Nice pics too.

It's ok, however it didn't inspire me as much as some other photography books (for exmaple "Understanding Exposute" by Bryan Peterson)
