If you are looking for a CD that will provide you with the essence of Flamenco guitar playing, then I do not believe you will find better than this. Right from the beginning of the first track it evoked in me everything that I had imagined flamenco to be. The sounds are those that bring the heat and the dust of the Spanish summer into your mind, and noise and passoin that goes with it. I think we need a little of that in the glum country of ours. I recommend this record highly for anyone who is not sure where to start with flamenco.

If you're just interested in Flamenco Guitar, you'd be better off with Paco's double album of that title, as this one includes selections from the Flamenco Mass and from the duet album of South American music with Eduardo Falú.

That said, this is a good introduction to Paco, especially if you can't afford all the other albums.

This is one of the best Flamenco recordings ever, particularly for players. The scores for some of the pieces are available through a variety of sources.
