Sandra changes direction with a chilled blend of adult pop. nothing cutting edge but there's a warmth to every track. Don't expect any Euro disco, the girls slipped off her stilletoes in favour of something more comfortable and laid back. She tends to whisper the verses and sing the choruses, but she does it very well (the whispering not the singing) but thats Sandra's charm. Looking good on the front cover too. It's was worth the wait. Shame she didn't include Secrets Of Love as a bonus track and why was Logical Love not included on the album? All in all not bad, now we want all the dance mixes.....

Seen loads of CDs by Sandra, but this is the first one I tried. A few seconds into "What D'Ya Think Of Me" and I thought "Wow!". Sexy, breathy vocals, with music in the style of Enigma (she has sung with Enigma on several of their CDs). Other highlights include the title track "The Art Of Love", "Dear God ... If You Exist", "Put Your Arms Around Me" and "All You Zombies".

After listening to this CD, I have (so far) bought another 9 of her albums, and have NOT been disappointed!

I was a bit surprised by some of the 'negative' comments as if Sandra was on top of her game the last 10 years and all of a sudden this was a dissapointment. Not really. Let's be frank - the stuff that was done the last 10 years is great for a die hard fan (like myslef) but (and I am being realistic now) it has been actually a way down all these years...never was there a chance of the golden years of Maria Magdalena and In the Heat of the Night...that is history and the Wheel she was riding on was some kind of replica and emulation of those days, days gone forever. Except for a 'brief' escapade into enigma most of the Sandra solo work has been mediocre in the last few albums. The change here is that JENS GAD (Achillea) has taken over the command 100%. No Michael Cretu and that's why the difference. Just give it a few listens and you will see that this transitional album has potential, but more important it might be a stepping stone for a slightly different and more up-to-date Sandra sound. She is still there big time but it's different and I actually like it. There are a few excellent songs and some less interesting but as a whole a nice effort - maybe the best thing she has done after Paintings in Yellow...so give it a chance and give Jens Gadd a chance...it's nice to get some chill-out trans ambient new enigma Ibiza studio sounds into Sandra...it might work and it might not. She can always return to the programatic and tubeless Sandra sound of the last decade but she can also give it a shot in something new...for die hard fans and new ones this is a great album. For those expecting Sandra will sing Maria Magdalena sound alike thing in 2007 - don't waste your money...

i have been a huge fan of sandra since i was introduced to her -paintings in yellow album. I have collected every album i can and i have to say that although this album is different from all the rest it is only because that Sandra is growing as an artist and as a person and so reflects her work. This may not be "paintings" one of her best but there are some stand out tracks on this album, well done Sandra and i look forward to your next work.

I wasn't expecting to like this album much (having read other reviews on here before I bought) but I am pleasantly surprised. Yes it does not have the classic 80's Sandra sound but is still very much a Sandra album with the inevitable Enigma twist (Jens Gad as producer).'The Art Of Love' does not sound like an album from as recently as 2007 but fans of Sandra will love the vocals - yes more spoken parts this time but still a lot of singing too! I like 12 of the 13 tracks - not so keen on 'Once Upon A Time' - track 7 which doesn't really 'go' anywhere. 'Casino Royale' is the standout track for me. Another Sandra album I play again and again.
