If you regard polymer clay as an art form as opposed to craft or kids clay, this is the book to show you just what can be achieved. The work is outstanding and the how to's that Lark Books excel at, are indeed easy to follow. For inspiration, this is the best polymer clay book I have seen. Although it is not intense on basics, it does cover the rudimentary steps of how to start and equipment needed. I would recommend this to any artist looking to work with polymer clay.

This is one of the excellent books on polymer clay ART. It features some of the artists really making a name for themselves and constantly taking polymer into the realms of fine art. For those of you who think of fimo and crafty looking beads, you have to know that polymerclay can be so much more! The reason I bought this book as soon as it came out was because it had a lesson by a guy called jeffrey lloyd dever on his hollow organic looking pods. They look like underwater life forms! Also the cover shows work by an artist called sandra mccaw - just look at it! There are quite a few projects in this book but I would probably say that it would help to already have a working knowledge of polymer. This is a medium that is in its infancy. It is still in its pioneering stage and many people are discovering cool things it can do all the time. There is also a lot of rubbish and kitch out there - but polymer really can be a beautiful medium in its own right or combined with other things. For further proof - although they are not in this book - look at the work of "ford and forlano".... Its gallery fine art jewellery. (and its polymer clay!) A very good polymer clay book for those seeking to take it higher.

Beautifully photgraphed with a lot of full colour ilustrations. It features tutorials from many well known polymer artists and gives a good insight into the techniques needed to make your work more professional . Not for beginners I don't think.
