"Erin Kaye…gave up a career in finance to write, and that, along with her different background, gives her a breadth that many other popular writers here don't have - and makes her one of the best."
- Ann Dunne, Irish Independent Review

"Larne writer Erin Kaye has produced a captivating story full of gritty problems and courageous characters. Readers will be rooting for them all the way."

I get by with a little help from my friends…

A heart-warming tale of family and friendship for fans of Cathy Kelly and Maeve Binchy.

Chance brought Kirsty, Clare, Janice and Patsy together fifteen years ago. But friendship has bound them through time. Until now.

Over the years, In the small town of Ballyfergus, these four women have shared tears of joy and sorrow, countless glasses of wine and cups of tea. Men have come and gone, children been born and left home. Life has taken them down paths they never expected, but through it all their relationship has endured.

But all that's about to change - this year their friendship will be tested as never before as:

• Widowed Kirsty falls in love with someone she shouldn't.
• Patsy struggles to cope with her beloved husband's redundancy and a shocking revelation from her daughter.
• Janice is forced to address ghosts from her past.
• Clare takes control of her life, only to discover that her new-found independence comes at a high price.

Can the sisterhood survive the strains placed upon it and come through it unscathed? Find out in this warm, emotive tale from a hot new talent, perfect for fans of Cathy Kelly and Maeve Binchy.

A wonderful read! 18 Feb 2010
Format:Paperback
Erin Kaye is at her best! This book is a great page turner I couldn't put it down! The book is about a group of friends, Kirsty, Janice, Patsy & Clare who have been friends for 15 years. Kirsty who is a widow and has 2 young children is trying to move on with life and trying to break free from her in-laws and find happiness. Janice who is happily married, has been keeping a devastating secret from her husband and son and now has to deal with the ghosts of her past. Clare who wants more out of life, decides she wants to work part-time but her husband isn't that supportive, she soon finds out that juggling her home life and work comes at a price and finally Patsy who is like the mother of the group has to deal with a shocking revelation from her daughter. The events which occur in their lives impacts on all of them. But can their friendship survive?

A Great Read 8 Dec 2010
By Lincs Reader TOP 500 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Format:Paperback
This is the first of Erin Kaye's books that I have read, and I will most definitely be looking out for her other novels. A really warm and well written story of four female friends, all living in a small town in Northern Ireland. Each of the characters are very well portrayed, all of them are very different, both in outlook and age but the sense of friendship and loyalty shines through.

The story starts on New Year's Eve and follows the four women through the next year of their lives. Every trial and tribulation is covered in detail, with serious issues such as abortion, redundancy and childhood issues covered alongside the everyday matters that blight people's lives.

Exploring friendships, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives and long held secrets this really is a great read, the perfect book to pick up on a chilly afternoon sitting by the fire.

I have read all of Erin Kaye's books and am already looking forward to the next one which can be pre-ordered with Amazon. I live in Larne, Co.Antrim the town which Ballyfergus is based on and it adds further to my enjoyment when I recognise locations in my home town. I thoroughly recommend this book and her previous ones. My favourite author by a country mile!
