Excellent Book on Discernment

This book is simple to read, and may at first glance, be viewed as being too simplistic. However, I would argue that the concepts and factors associated with discernment speak to the depth of human spirituality and reality, especially from the Christian tradition. It is a very fair and balanced treatment of the "discernment of spirits" as described by Ignatius of Loyola. If you are a person who is trying to make some serious decisions in your life, and you are Christian and take your faith seriously, I think you would find this book very helpful.

Compact but condescending

As an adult woman studying ministry and spiritual direction, I was disappointed with this book. While it is compact and easy to read, I wish the examples spoke to more mature and nuanced issues. May be more appropriate for young adults. Discernment examples included several women and marraige, next to men with job choices. In addition to male-centered language for the divine, these gender-role stereotypes mean I will not use or recommend this book.
