This book answers many questions surrounding the nature of power and how people attain it and, crucially, how they maintain it. There has been scant attention paid to this topic, even as the author admits in his introduction, he owes a debt of graditude to Machiavelli.
Scholars and practioners of a variety of disciplines, particularly peacebuilding and conflict resolution, will find this book of immense value and will better inform their policy making and implementation.
I can't rate this book highly enough. If I have one criticism it is the author expects his readers to have a similar depth and breadth of history as he has.
