Review
Eva has created a wonderful book about the Perigord basket. The book begins with a very clear footage of a simple weaving technique from Burkina-Faso. I enjoyed seeing and using the instructions, because I have been instructed to merge the techniques live. For days, hours, I've enjoyed to work with this technique. In the book there is - apart from Eva's instructions - some fantastic photos of a man from Burkina-Faso, who weaves a hat after this technique. Then comes the section on Perigord baskets. There are clear photos with hand positions, which the reader can go systematically beyond. I have always myself first learn to weave a basket "live" and then I can use the book to remember the technique. I never tried to weave a perigordkurv, but should I try, I would not be traceable nervous to do it solely by Eva's instructions. The book contains stories with photos of five talented basketsmakers meeting with this basket. It ends with inspiring photos of spiral braided baskets, sculptures, etc. To book includes a great DVD. Here we see Eva weave a perigordkurv from start to finish. She sits in her workshop, so we get a sence of the atmosphere there. I am delighted to have this delicious book standing on my bookshelf.
