It's probably my fault for not sampling the book prior to downloading it, but I was most disappointed in its format - I found the "play" format most distracting, indeed a hindrance. After a couple of pages I couldn't be bothered to continue and gave up! Obviously this is only my personal opinion, as the other reviewers have given very favourable reviews. Nothing lost, however, as it was a free ebook and I have learned my lesson - always preview prior to clicking "buy"!!

This is something completely different. It is written in script form and I couldn't put it down (well, I had to once). The set up is original and intriguing and I think this is going to be a very entertaining series - it certainly is so far, 'cause I've read the sequel The Armchair Detective and the Manor-House Mystery and let's just say if you like this one, you'll love the next.
Now, as for The Armchair Detective, once Trench has met Old Tom his curiosity in the Mayflower Flats is pricked. When he is told by his Editor and advised by his colleague, Sally-Anne not to follow this up, he - of course - does the opposite and the absorbing and sometimes amusing investigation explores ever-changing avenues. A government conspiracy? A property fiddle? Maybe even criminal activity from thirty year ago? Or..? No, you really should find out for yourself - trust me, it'll be fun.
