A brilliant discovery 26 April 2005
After my poor disappointed eyes had been dragged across the pages of so many "best-sellers", this unknown gem is a delightful must read. Any lover of lateral thinking, British sense of humour and sheer page-turning adventure will love this book. Warning: don't read it on the bus or tube unless you like being the centre of attraction as you gasp and laugh out loud.

Any SF reader will HAVE to add this book to their collection.

This book is soo funny, a must-buy! (and the comparisons to Adamsian/H2G2-books / -humour are entirely justified.) In particular I love the means of propulsion of the space-ships, about as quirky as the Heart of Gold! Plus a ship's computer that is a bit reminiscent of Holly of Red Dwarf fame.
Good characters and a good storyline too! I love how Green goes of on tangents to embellish the story, and it fits the story line brilliantly.
I won't give away more than I this, it's for you to find out for yourself. Just started rereading it and wanted to share the joy.

I'm not normally a Sci Fi fan but I really really loved this book. It is hugely funny and I can only describe it as a hidden gem, a treasure waiting to be found.
This would make a great TV series.
