I should say that I haven't started reading it yet, but this is a beautiful set of books.
Be warned however, the packaging is totally inadequate and the product was damaged in transit. You will see similar complaints on the page for the previous edition. If you do order it, contact Amazon and make sure they do a proper job of packaging. It looked like a five year old had packaged mine.

This is an amazing set of books - they look and feel beautiful and with good sized print on high quality pages they are as much a pleasure to read as look at. In terms of the content, I own several other versions of these tales - this is both more complete and (in my opinion) a better translation. The original text is rendered into excellent modern English with all the poems translated to preserve meaning rather than to rhyme. My only quibble would be that interpretations of the poems would be useful as some don't make a lot of sense to my Western mind.

This box set is beautiful.
I bought this as a gift for my girlfriend so had it gift wrapped. After having read a previous review about poor packaging I contacted Amazon who said they were unable to make specific requests to ensure it was adequately packaged but did assure me that the product will be well wrapped.
The box set arrived and as a previous reviewer commented it was as if it was wrapped by a child. The packaging and box set were damaged. If you order this there is no reason to believe the similar will not occur to you. It appears that Amazon do not care or do not listen to feedback.
If you really want this box set I would pay a little extra and go and by it from Daunt books where they seem to care more about pleasing the customer.
My box set was eventually replaced and it did arrive in reasonable condition. My girlfriend was very pleased.
