David Dickinson is known to millions as the flamboyant presenter of BBC daytime TV show Bargain Hunt. David remains a real life dealer and now has more than thirty years experience in the trade. From the moment you read his quote on the cover "If I knew 25 years ago what you will learn from this book, I could have saved myself a lot of dissapointment and a hell of a lot of money.." you are assured that you are in for a very entertaining read. It is testimony to his pragmatic approach to acquiring knowledge. Written with David's own candor and humour he's not afraid to reveal the mistakes he's made as well as revel in his successes. He draws from his personal experience of dealing in antiques, from the time he was an interested amateur to his rubbing shoulders with the stars, even royalty! His entusiasm and passion for the subject are infused into every page. It's highly accessible to the novice and thoroughly entertaining to people with only a passing interest in antiques, and because it is crammed full of antiquing tips even the seasoned collector will learn more than a trick or two. It is beautifully illustrated throughout and would make a great gift. All David's fans will be rivetted.
