Before I begin my review, I must say that I received an ARC for free from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Having never read any of Claires books before, and often giving up on non-fiction books halfway through, i was a little dubious, however I needn't have been. I found the book a really easy read and interesting.
Even as a Tudor enthusiast, I found there were lots of facts and information that i didn't know, and arguments relating to her / parts of her life, which i hadn't considered.
Although the book didn't focus an awful lot on Anne Boleyn's "downfall", which I was a bit dissappointed in (but i think she has dedicated an entire book on this previously), I still found it a really good addition to my Tudor bookshelf, and has encouraged me to read more non-fiction, especially more of Claire's books. I think this is a real must read for any Tudor enthusiast.

I really did not like leaving a poor review of the first book but this is so much better. The style of writing has been tightened up and there is much less repetition. However the friendly tone and enthusiasm is still present. I enjoyed reading this book much more than the first one.

Claire Ridgway must have been neck deep in papers, files, folders, books, certs, photos, etc. to bring to life an amazing insight into the life of Anne Boleyn and her family. The writer tells it like it is or was rather with such ease and clarity. The tiny stitches of information all sown together to create the best, raw, "warts and all", behind the scenes tapestery of Anne's life. I highly recommend reading this book for all history enthusiasts or any readers who want to get their teeth into a factual document. Well done Claire Ridgway.

this is the best idea of Anne Boleyn I have read; the author is factual, has done her research, is not sentimental. She makes me like Anne, and see her as a real person.

I was excited to hear that Claire Ridgway was bringing out another book about Anne Boleyn as I thoroughly enjoyed her first book "The Anne Boleyn Collection". I was interested to see what sort of information was included in this second book and what aspects of Anne's life that Claire examined. Upon reading I have to say that I was not at all disappointed and I found Ridgway's second book to be just as good, if not better than her first!

One aspect that I really loved about this book was Claire Ridgway's passion for Anne Boleyn. It was evident in the way she wrote about this remarkable woman, in the depth of her research and the power behind her words that she truly cares for Anne Boleyn and has a great passion for bringing the life and truth about Anne Boleyn to the reader. I also really enjoyed the sections where Claire added in her own personal thoughts and views. She does not push these upon the reader but gives them as a means to express herself and help the reader understand where Claire is coming from in her thinking and her beliefs.

Claire also included many fascinating images throughout the book. Some were black and white portraits while others were colour photographs. She also included family trees and maps, all of these help to add to the book as they were not only fascinating to look at but also helped the reader gain an idea of what a person or place looked like.

I loved Claire Ridgway's second book on Anne Boleyn. As with her first book it is clear that Claire did a great deal of research. This is not a book that has been written lightly and it is evident that Claire has spent a great deal of time reading, researching and checking her facts. Her passion for Anne Boleyn comes through and brings her writing to life. This is an absolutely wonderful book and gives a great overview of Anne Boleyn's history and her life and I believe it is a must have for any bookshelf.

Before I begin my review, I must say that I received an ARC for free from the author in exchange for an honest review.

I have enjoyed reading various articles written by Claire Ridgway on her website 'The Anne Boleyn files' and therefore, I was excited about reading this collection - I wasn't disappointed! I loved the way that it was written, very down to earth and too the point, which proved a very easy read. Additionally, I liked the manner in which that Ridway's research contributes to an extremely detailed history of Anne. Written in a chronological manner, it was nice to plot Anne's history but Ridgway often explained different elements of Anne's life - for example, she explained more about Tudor miscarriages than I have read before. My only change that I would make is that I would have liked the information about the Boleyn family near the beginning to the week rather than the end.
