Sadly, I had to give up on this book because random bit were missing and it was jumbled up and words were inserted from other parts of the text.

Impossible to read due to footnotes being randomly scattered through the pages, which are also unreadable due to missing words.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Anglo-Saxon Home 5 Dec. 2012
By Andrew Barlow - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
There are not many books available about what conveniently be called the social aspects of the Anglo-Saxon period. Most of the available books deal with the upper nobility and their lives. Until recently what are seen to be the "common or ordinary" people were so unimportant to the more privileged classes that they do not even merit any mention except mainly as "soldiers" when the nobility waged wars. This book does give one an insight in the lives of the ordinary people. This is important to understand the present situation.

The text is so garbled as to make this work unreadable!
I would not recommend it to anyone. Don't bother.
1.0 out of 5 stars formatting is horrible 1 Feb. 2013

While the book itself is entertainingly written, the footnotes (which are copious and seem to be informative) are unreadable. They are interleaved with each other so that to read one footnote you must read every other line, or even guess where in a line the footnote continues. I can't believe Amazon charges $1.99 for garbage. for shame!
