The Angel Experiment is an action filled suspense novel by an extremely talented writer.

James Patterson is able to keep the readers' full attention throughout the book using twisted hooks and an amazing storyline. The story is based on a girl named Max who has genetically been given wings. She spent nearly all her life in a laboratory and the book is mainly targeted at her struggle to live life as a runaway when her and her companions escape.

The story keeps a fast energetic pace from begining to end and has been carefully put together using clear, exciting and clever writing techniques.

The book ends with a cliff-hanger leaving readers hungry for the sequel "Schools out forever"that is yet to be released.

The Angel Experminent is a book I'd recomend to teens and older readers, who appreiciate a good read and have time to read a book that's utterly unputdownable- It really is amazing!

This is definetly a book you'd be mad to miss out on!

If your youngster is fed up of Harry Potter and does not want to read Andy McNab or Anthony Horowicz then this is maybe the book for them. My son loved it and has read it ten times or more. He cried at the end the first time he read it and he doesn't usually get moved by books at all. It's a story that moves at break neck pace and there are three parallel stories - the one that hooked me the most was the story of what happens to Angel in the lab. Of course, as an adult you can see where the strings are being pulled; Angel, your six year old sister, being bullied? What big brother wouldn't want to rescue her? Contemporary issues are explored here: genetic testing, cloning, etc. It also explores ideas of loyalty and friendship. It's a bit too American at times for my taste, but it is a gripping story nonetheless and I can see why my son enjoyed it so much. It would be a great buy for a reluctant reader too, because the chapters are very short (2 sides on average), the print is largeish and the voccabulary is simple. Sentences are short and very easy to understand.

All in all, highly recommended.

I found this book absolutely thrilling, even though I bought it for my daughter ! I think it is very adult in the way it is written, especially after having been initially put off when I saw that it was aimed at the teenage market. I found myself carrying the book from room to room with me, and was desperate to know what would happen next. I was slightly disappointed that it didn't finish at the end, so now I am on a quest to get the next in the series. I love all the characters, they are detailed and individual in their personalities, you really feel for them, and they would make a great movie! A must read for everyone who likes something original and different !!!!!

I'm fifteen and I read a lot. I think the best review comes from the age group that the book in question is aimed at especially if the book is blatantly sold to get teenagers attention.

I kind of get into a pattern with books shoving them into categories: chick flick girl teenager tales all about lipstick; wanna be anthony horowitz adventure stories; wanna be magical fantasy jk rowling's or the odd really good group of books since I'm a picky reader. As soon as I saw the Maximum Ride series I'd have put it in the Anthony Horowitz wanna be group. Until I started reading that is. Uber brilliant doesn't even cover it. Most adventure books isolate you because the cahracters are so amazingly strong and so unbelievably heroic and you're just like 'this is sooooooo unbelievable' but the amazing thing is I find the novel about kids with wings more believable than I ever found Alex Rider. Away went the thoughts of 'shallow, all in it for the guns and violence etc.' that are usually the thoughts accompanied with cheap adventure/thriller novels.

I think maybe its the way the eponymous hero and main character Max talks to you throughout the novel and she includes you so you feel invovled. Maybe its the fact that Patterson gets her tone and language exactly right so you really do think its a 20008 teenage girl talking to you with the extra 'likes' and 'duhs' thrown in. Ok, yes is really strong and can fly but she also feels like one of you and not just the average 'chosen spykid' that always knows what to do to kill the bad guy. Maybe its the way that her flock seem so like my actual younger sisters and brothers attaching themselves to small stuffed bears and creating names like Tiffany-Krystal and singing costipation songs that I see them leaping out the page.

Although slow to start off with once you get into it you don't want to put it down. If you haven't read his previous books When the Wind blows and The Lake house you won't understand how these kids came to where they are now. I would say to read these first before reading this as you might find a little boring. I bought this book not even knowing that it exsisted but I am glad I did. Definately one to read. I hope there is a follow on to this!!!!
