Great Read 26 July 2011
Format:Paperback
I read this book when I was 14; I am 16 now. And I disagree with the other reviews saying the situations are not suitable for teenagers. Bali Rai writes well for teenagers and although it was shocking, I found it a great insight into the horrific things that some people do to others. I appreciated how open it was, it had to be to really involve you in the story, and I thought the characters were well created and easy to empathise with. It was a gripping, emotive story and I have recommended it to many friends; most of their mums read it too and said it was great!

Bali Rai came to my school in to my year 9 english lesson at Buxton Community School. I am not normally a keen reader but he talked about writing his story's and told us of his adventures and his family.
I was intrigued to find out more about his family as he said most of his books were based around them. He was a very intersting person.
(for future reference he does not like Ali G)
This book was amazing. Jit's quest to find sophie is full of exciting things that happen to him and sophie's friend jenna. This book is full of racism. In fact it is about a racist cult. If this was any other book i would most probably still be reading it. I managed to finish this book in about 4-5 days!! You should take this as a good thing i was very amazed about how good this book was. Probably the best book i have ever read.

I dont want to be too critical, suffice to say that if this book is intended for teenagers, its average. My teenage niece read it and thought it was ok. Nothing more from her.
Personally, i thought it a very poor read. I didnt buy into the characters nor did i find any compassion with Jit. Unable to recommend im afraid.
