Product Description

Review

'This is one of the most readable review books for a certification exam that I have come across. The information is interesting and the answers are appropriate for an eight-minute discussion during an oral exam. Mastery of the topics in this book will surely leave a candidate well prepared for an oral exam on the clinical science underlying the contemporary practice of anesthesia.' Doody's Book Review --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.

First Sentence
The format of the current Final FRCA (Fellow of Royal College of Anaesthetists) examination has changed little since its inception in 1996, and the clinical science viva is intended still to test the understanding of basic science to the practice of anaesthesia, intensive therapy and pain management, with the proviso that it is accepted that candidates will not have acquired a detailed knowledge of every topic during the period of recognised training. Read the first page

5.0 out of 5 stars Essential reading 24 Dec 2006
Format:Paperback
This book is essential reading for the FRCA - I think it's useful for primary too.

A few diagrams wouldn't go a miss, but it really is a great book and you'd be surprised how many of the questions come up in the exam itself almost word-for-word. Buy it, you'll be glad you did!

Everyone preparing for the final FRCA should have this book, indeed I think you could probably pass the whole science viva with this book alone. It covered all the topics which came up in my exam, and indeed those of my colleagues, and in more detail than can be managed in the exam itself. Well illustrated, clearly written and authoritative.

4.0 out of 5 stars cut and paste 20 Dec 2009

This book is phenominal. I can honestly say it is responsible for getting me through the VIVAs. The only caviate is that there is quite a lot of overlap with his other briliant book the Short Answers
