Product Description

It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: Oscorp.

DVD Bonus Features Include:
  • 4 All-New Deleted Scenes with Commentary by Marc Webb
  • Filmmaker Commentary
  • Alicia Keys “It’s On Again” music video
  • New Public Service Announcement for the Worldwide Orphans Foundation (WWO), featuring Andrew Garfield & WWO CEO Dr. Jane Aronson

3.0 out of 5 stars The Likeable but Flawed Spider-Man 22 April 2014
Following the events of the previous installment, Peter Parker has now embraced his identity as Spider-Man and is learning to live a double life. All that could change when a new villain is born, putting both he and the ones he loves in grave danger... I seemed to be in a minority, but I quite liked The Amazing Spider-Man. Garfield is the perfect Peter Parker, just the right amount of nerdy, cheeky and brooding in equal measure; Maguire's Peter was just a touch too serious for my liking. I also like Garfield as Spider-Man for much the same reason - he brings in the witticisms that the comic book character is known for, and I personally enjoy it when superhero movies embrace their slightly campy source material. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 delivers more of the same in this vein; but while I enjoyed the movie overall, I felt it lacked the focus of the first installment, leading to an uneven, slightly haphazard film.

The positives of the series so far are abundant; the chemistry between Garfield and Stone is palpable, and it's easy to see their real-life affection. Hell, it oozes out of them, and it means that you can't help rooting for Gwen Stacy, which only makes the discord between them more frustrating. Stone's Stacy is wonderful; she is, as Peter repeatedly asserts, adorable, but underneath there is a steely core of intelligence, empathy and kindness that render her a worthy super-hero sidekick. I also like the trend of tragic villains the series has so far displayed; even the most despicable behaviour is explained (although never justified) by the sufferings of the characters. This is particularly true in the case of Electro; maybe I'm a sap, but it broke my heart seeing his transformation.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Amazing Spiderman 2 review 19 April 2014
The Amazing Spiderman 2 returns to the big screen featuring the web based hero. Andrew Garfield Stars as the super hero. The latest film features a new super villain.

Jamie Fox stars as a geeky loner Matt Dillion. He is an employee of Oscorp Industries. He develops an obsession of Spiderman. This obsession has been triggered by the fact that Spiderman rescued him and it means a lot. There is a shrine in Matt's room showing Spiderman. He mumbles about Spiderman missing his birthday. He loses the balance whilst doing a maintenance job. He plunges into the water of a container consisting of electric eels. These are used for experiments. He becomes electrified, thus becoming Electro. He goes on the rampage of terrifying New York, with his powers. Spiderman faces a new enemy. How does he battle with the new enemy? Can he reason with the enemy?

Harry Osborn Jnr, a close friend of Peter Parker arrives at Oscorp Industries. Harry's father sadly perishes, as he is terminally ill. He is appointed the new CEO of the industry. We learn a lot about Harry as a person. The young Harry is facing a major problem. He is requesting a massive favour from Spiderman, who advises not to do. Harry is an explosive person, as he shows a distrubing and dark side to his personality. This side story open up for future sequels, as you are about to find out.

Meanwhile, Peter Parker has a lot on his plate, whilst not being Spiderman. Peter discovers the sudden disappearance of his father during childhood. How does he react hearing the shocking truth? I admire the close bonding between Peter and Aunt Mary, who took care of him as a child. Peter's relationship with Gwen is going through a difficult time. It shows special and romantic moments between the two characters..

If you are big Spiderman fan like myself then you should love this. It has everything you need in a Spiderman movie and then some.
If you are a casual movie go-er then this might not be for you. Some people are leaving negative reviews because they don't understand some of the scenes or love the original trilogy and still can't get over the fact that they rebooted it.

4.0 out of 5 stars I hate that song.... 23 April 2014
Having the inclusion of three villains in this sequel really had me concerned for the movie, especially seeing that the Goblin was being reintroduced so soon after the Raimi version (I know it's been 12 years, but it's really not that long ago if your at a certain age).

Plus it doesn't really help having the slightly fresh taste of the monstrosity that was Spider- Man 3.

But hey, its a new franchise, with a new spin on the web slinger, and thank heavens that the majority of people who have commented on the poorness of the film are wrong, plain wrong, but all opinions are respected.

The film focuses more on Peter and his demons, coming to terms with his promise that he made to captain Stacy, and the mysterious events that led to his parents murders. And then this seamlessly melds into the prerogatives of the main villain, Osborn, looking like a cross between DiCaprio, Basketball Diaries Era, and Adolf Hitler.

Dehaans Osborn is a more sinister, gloomier version than Franco's Jock like take, and he owns the film when he is on screen. His story is the bulk of the sub plot, and he is fascinating.

Foxx is the weak point here, like a cross between Gus Gorman in Superman III, and the electric gremlin from The New batch. He is nothing more than a stooge for Osborn, but he does garner the greatest set piece in the film.

Garfield and Stone are as wonderful as expected, and his Spider-Man is just like the one from all those great cartoons of the eighties, sarcastic, human, and funny.

The film is a lot darker in tone, than other Marvel movies, and at sometimes, it's very touching, especially during the final showdown with Rhino.

2.0 out of 5 stars I miss the original trilogy.
At least it was better than The Amazing Spider-Man. Unfortunately, it's worse than Spider-Man 3. And man, Spider-Man 3 really Spider-Man 3'd up the place.
