Format: Audio CD
The decline of Bud Powell's powers in his later years has been well documented. This album was recorded in 1957, and sadly it is no exception. Bud is a shadow of his former self. His genius has decomposed, his previously explosive bebop lines are now fumbled or incomplete. 'Bud On Bach' is a high speed but clumsy interpretation of Bach's 'Solfeggietto'. The only redeeming track is 'Blue Pearl', which is a return to the great pianist's former glory.
Bud's earlier works on Blue Note come highly recommended, but this one sadly does not.

I love Bud Powell, I think he is simply amazing! He is just one of the Jazz Legends I know of. His playing transports one to another World - the Jazz World! You just listen, and take it all in and "leave your worries on the doorstep!" A line from the song: "Sunny Side of the Street"!
