I had previously read "The Anti-Oxidant Miracle" by a chap called Lester Packer. That was upon a recommendation by an American I met whilst on a business trip to China. The reason for telling you this was that the this American gentlemen was 67 but looked several years younger. He pointed out that he had no liver spots on his hands. Then he told me he used to before supplementing with Co-Q10 AntiOxidant. (It had taken 6 months for the "old age" liver spots caused by free-radical damage to clear up incidentally)
After reading that book I then found this book about Alpha Lipoic Acid. Given that the two authors don't reference each other (if my memory serves me correctly), both works back each other up independently. Also, this book goes into a lot more detail about what happens at cell level. For a nerd like me, I love that attention to detail as I like to understand things.
All in all, I personally recommend this book and recommend reading the other book by Lester Packer - The Anti-Oxidant Miracle. Needless to say, especially as I am 45 at time of writing and partake in heavy weight-training, I am now taking a range of supplemental anti-oxidants. This includes Vitamin E, Co-Q10, Ginkgo Biloba (for memory), Vitamin C. Plus I eat an abundance of fresh fruit and vegetables. If I make it to 90, still have my marbles, and can still type at a keyboard, I'll update this review and tell you it worked!
