More About the Author

Hi everyone. I'm a freelance countryside author and photo-journalist based in Norfolk, England. I just love being outdoors. I've hunted since I was old enough to make a catapult and messed with airguns and lurchers since my teens. I write regularly for the UK country-sports press about hunting, tracking, field-craft, game cookery etc. I'm also a keen wildlife and landscape photographer. Many of my images can be seen on my Wildscribbler website. I'm a real fan of the enigma that is Mother Nature, hence my book, The Hunter's Way. I recently added Hobby Writing: How To Make Your Play,Pay! to help budding writers. My latest book is a guide to training the hunting dog and is called The Hunter's Hound. My latest release is my first novel: 'Jaguar! The Hunt For The Black Angel' which is an adult themed story of pursuit and survival.

Product Description

Review

Without doubt, this ranks as one of the most informative airgun hunting books ever written. Each chapter is packed with invaluable information about quarry, technique and tips on what to look for when you are out hunting, all interspersed with highly entertaining anecdotes that set it apart from other books on the subject. --Airgun Shooter, Nigel Allen

An excellent book on airgun hunting. Packed with useful information imparted in a relaxed and chatty style. --Countryman s Weekly

Few books cater for the experienced shooter and the beginner alike. This... is one of the few. This is a fantastic book that should grace the shelves of not just airgunners but all small-calibre hunters and countrymen. It is a sure winner. --Sporting Rifle, Peter Carr

About the Author

An urban childhood was transformed at the age of eleven when Ian Barnett's father gave him a catapult. By twelve he had an air pistol and a year later he traded it in for his first air rifle. A life of airgunning had begun. He lives in Norfolk with his wife and son. His hobbies are airgun hunting and photography.

I took this book on holiday with me to read when chilling out by the pool with a cold beer. There are a number of recipes in the book and one is for wood pigeon and the trees around our villa have lots of wood pigeon the only down side for me I had no gun with me to try out the recipes with some of the Menorca Pigeon. very good book well written.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great book for year-round hunting 30 Nov 2011
By Ed
Format:Hardcover
I received this book as a gift and was really impressed with it.
Ian writes in an engaging, informative and often comic style and has brilliant knowledge and advice for hunting in any season and in any weather.
I also found the full colour images (taken by the author) useful and I really enjoyed his topical stories and poetry about his hunts.
If you're a keen air rifle hunter, this is a great book for you as it offers brilliant advice on kit, hunting techniques, gaining permission land and so much more -I thoroughly recommend it.
