For anyone whose a fan of Warne's Observer's Book of Aircraft and who is looking for a thoroughly comprehensive record of the Aircraft flying in the mid-1950s, Macdonald's "The Aircraft of The World 1955 (second edition)" gives you just that.
Produced on high quality glossy paper, typical of that era in a lovely blue hard back board format with gold-leaf lettering on the spine, this truly is an Aviation Enthusiast's and Book Collector's paradise ! Full of super period photos, Dennis Punnet's famous three-view silhouettes and a massive amount of data and information this could almost be classed as a smaller version of Jane's All The World's Aircraft.
For those of you who are fussy collecters like me, be aware that a number of these 1955 editions were printed with a slight paper defect with tiny cuts to the paper edge on some of the pages. (I have seen two with this problem). However, this does not take away from the overall quality of an excellent book and probably cannot be avoided.
The book is quite large, so expect a reasonable amount of P & P.
If you can get one with the dust-jacket, also glossy with excellent artwork featuring a Handley Page Victor so much the better ! Highly recommended !
