Absolutly asmazing album, some say it is better than their second disk but I dunno. I'll go through things simply.

Vocals - the best i've ever heard in metal, thats my opinion, some people like it screamo, some like it low and rumbleing. One good thing is that this dude does both! And extreamily well I might add. 10/10

Guitars - To be honest they are not phenominal, they hold it together and do very good complex riffs but there are no solos. 7/10

Drumming - Being a drummer myself (of developing drummer) I know that the work is very complex which shows real talent and keeps the beat perfectly. 8/10

Bass - To be honest, when listening to a cd you don't realy notice the bass so I just say that I don't hear any flaws. I won't rate on it though.

Layout, style etc..- The first track is very impressive because this is something what you havn't heard before, by track three you may start to sound samey. But it then picks up at track 4 which is Lines Of Suicide, then Track 5 which could be my favorite Eyes Sewn Shut. Not one bad track. 9/10

There is a rumor of them being a Christian band, being a Christian myself, I did some research. 2 members of the 5 are Christians and they were on a Christian label. But they are not a Christian band, they are all about the music.

My favorite tracks are Eyes sewn shut, Lines Of Suicide, Paint It Black (yes a rolling stones take off, but praised by many as a good cover) and Vivid. They are all pretty awsome. Check em out. So an average of 8.5 which is 4 1/2 stars but I give it 5 stars kuz i love the vocals and brutality so much.

the agony scene in this debut have released as angry an album as you are ever likely to hear in the metalcore/screamcore genre, their follow up opus the darkest red wasnt as fierce as it was slightly more melodic and it was a sheer masterpiece, this debut is more raw, primitive and heavy and is enjoyable as a walk in disneyland as a child.

the screams and breakdowns are all present but so is fury that may be hard to take for some metalcore fans,it isnt as safe as killswitch engage for instance, songs like judas and shotgun wedding demonstrate the bands ability to write a furious song with layers of melody.they even do a stunning cover of the rolling stones paint it black that im sure mick jagger would have enjoyed, its an album that is possibly more of a grower than a shower but when you learn to love it all will be good.

Their Crushing Best 5 Jun 2005

The debut from this brutal metalcore group and one of the fiercest you'll hear anywhere.

'Bury Our Dead At Dawn' rips from the speakers to open up this beast and it doesn't relent from there until the last note. An excellent example of brutality and metal grit and guts.

One to obtain, for sure, and a band to send a shiver down to your very core!
