The Adventures of Mr Hawkins is a great unusual adventure story set in the present and transports the reader into timeless dimensions the story has so many twists and turns and kept my eleven year old son and myself totally immersed in the adventure . I'm not usually a great book reader but this was one of those books that you don't want to finish. It took me away in a fantasy land and reminded me of stories and dreams of my youth.Would make an amazing film.

This is the first book from the pen of Simon Gilmore, I read the story over a few weeks on a boat in Greece so for me the journey of Tom Parker and Mr Hawkins was very easy to relate to.

The book is not a sophisticated plot, the English is simple and direct as is the story line in the genre of 'Magical experience' books. It is easy to half close your eyes and be transported along with Tom Parker on his adventures. An ideal companion for a summer by the sea.

I was lucky enough to encounter the author in Athens airport. He is also a seafarer which no doubt explains the wealth of detailed descriptions throughout the book.

Overall a good read and good luck to the Author in his new career...when's the next one !!

The adventure starts on page 2 and keeps you glued to the book through to the end. A fantasic story about a boy and some unlikely heros which take you to a world behond ours. Full of suspense and well researched details make this an aventure story to remember. Ideal for all ages & generations from 11 to 81. This must be made into a film. If this is Simon Gilmores first book I can't wait to read the next.
