Product Description

Product Description

It's cold outside and snow is falling. Inside the fire is warm. The child, the velvet cat, the blue elephant and the rocking horse are warm and sleepy. 'Let's go adventuring!' says the child. Come with these adorable characters on an adventure around the world, through snow-capped mountains and across stormy seas as they weave their own adventure through a shared narrative. This is a contemporary classic with breathtaking illustrations from Argentinian talent, Valeria Docampo. "The Adventurers" is the perfect book to explore the freedom of the imagination and the joy of sharing stories with one child or many.

About the Author

Rachel Elliot studied Literature at Canterbury before going on to work for both Kingfisher and Egmont as an editor. She now works freelance, writing and editing in a small house next to some large cows in Devon. Valeria Docampo is from Buenos Aires, Argentina. She has a fine art background and has taught at the University of Buenos Aires in Graphic Design. Since the turn of the decade, she has been working in children's illustration and in 2008, her work was exhibited at Bologna Bookfair in the country section. She has gained an international reputation; her picture books have been published widely across Europe, South America and the Far East. Valeria works with both physical and digital artwork to achieve her appealing and remarkable stylised aesthetic. Valeria says that she is driven to draw by her desire to capture the poetry in everyday things. The extraordinary limits of her imagination are showcased in this contemporary yet classic adventure.

A magical story! 12 Jan 2012
By Mrs W
Format:Paperback
My three and a half year old son and I adore this book! He can often be heard saying 'Let's go adventuring Mummy!', it's really captured his imagination.

The illustrations are stunning and the story is written in such a way that you feel like you have been on the adventure with the characters.

I have bought both the hard and paperback versions, so if in doubt, go for the hardback, it's a beautiful book and makes a lovely present for a preschooler, preferably one with a good imagination! I shall be buying more as gifts. A sequel perhaps?!

This book is beautifully presented - I got the hardback version and I'm glad I did because it's a book I'll keep coming back to, and my boy is prone to meting out rough punishment to his favourite books. The charming story is complimented by lavish illustrations, which really fire up the imagination. Each page is packed with detail - rather than just reading it I find it's one of those books I end up in a conversation about every page.
