This is a clearly written book on neuro-diversity, sort of a primer. Neuro-diversity is a conceptualzation of certain psychological and neurological conditions, and a term that that has in recent years attained a wide explanatory niche. Included amongst neuro-diverse individuals are those with diagnoses of Aspergers, autism, dyslexia, Tourette's and so forth. Focus here is on the adolescent manifestation of these disorders. The style and presentation of the book hit the ear a bit differently, since it was written in England, and some of the listed resources, or turns of phrase, are British rather than American, but that really seems a plus. Also, she includes disorders not often, to my knowledge, subsumed under the neuro-diversity umbrella, such as anxiety disorders. Nonetheless, the book is nicely written, intelligent and practical rather than intently scholarly, full of personal vignettes, and tips for dealing with these disorders at a personal level or interacting and helping those others who are neuro-diverse.
