After enjoying Matt Kloskowski's Layers book I was expecting great things from this, what I got was disappointment. There is far too much "do this, do that" without any explanation of why, his explanations do not match what you actually achieve, so the best you can hope for is to be able to complete the exercises but you don't learn much. A most frustrating book.

Without the wisecracks and waffle in ten step-by-step exercises (with illustrations) this book takes you from raw beginner to understanding layers. But, and it is a big But, in learning about Layers you're also learning things you never guessed about Photoshop, it just drives you to want to take photographs, it's the best £15 I've spent on a photo book.The Adobe Photoshop CS4 Layers Book: Harnessing Photoshop's most powerful tool
