Book Description

"We have a new assignment for you, Mr. Reinhardt."

These words are not comforting to me. At eighteen, I am a gargoyle who has been demoted because I broke the rules. Now I have a new mission, a new mark to protect. But I don't expect Emma Chase. I don't expect to question my own race. I don't expect to care for my own mark. And I am not prepared for what I find at The Acropolis.

5.0 out of 5 stars A FANTASTIC BOOK AND A MUST READ! 22 Aug. 2012
    Format:Kindle Edition
    Review 7*******

I was given a copy of this book by the author in return for an honest review.

This is the first book in The Acropolis Series and I absolutely LOVED it!

Conor Reinhardt is a fantastic character! He is a gargoyle; a protector of the innocent, and defender against evil. He's one of the good guys. He is honourable, trustworthy and fun to be around. Unfortunately, he's been demoted and given an escort job. Emma Chase is not what he was expecting.

Emma Chase is a confused teenager. She has been ill for a long time (or so she thinks). It's not until she meets Conor, and finds out that she's not who she thought she was, that she begins to realise that all is not as it seems.

This book is an absolute MUST read! I fell in love with Conor's character in The Retribution Series, so I am glad he has a series of his own. This story starts at around the same timeline as Ransom. Each chapter alternates between Conor's and Emma's view point. The story flows beautifully, and is fast paced and exciting. There are a lot of twists and turns that kept me glued to the pages! The ending has a cliffhanger, which left me wanting more. I am now dying to read the next book in the series!

R.K. Ryals has become one of my favourite authors, and I will read anything written by her. I highly recommend this YA book whether you have read The Retribution Series or not; it is a stand-alone series. However, I recommend that you read The Retribution Series too!

The Acropolis (Acropolis Series book 1) by R. K. Ryals

    Review by Becky Harley

    5 Stars

    I Loved this book.

After being demoted for breaking the rules, Gargoyle Conor Reinhardt is given a new mark to protect. Yet he does not expect the mystery and complications that Emma Chase presents.

Conor is a strong, confident and loveable character. After meeting him in the Redemption series we got to know him as a loyal and supportive friend willing to do anything for those he cares about.

Emma is initially a scared and vulnerable character with no confidence or anyone to support her in the new life she finds herself thrown in to. As the story develops so does Emma’s character. She begins to realise that she can rely upon her strength and determination, and also Conor.

The storyline for this series is original and captivating and I could not put it down. The twists and turns in this series are exciting and I can’t wait to read the next instalment in the series.

4.0 out of 5 stars Four and a half stars 14 Dec. 2013
    By Lizzie
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The author has created a fabulous world in which angels, demons, witches and gargoyles are all friends before they find out about their powers. The other series dealing with each 'type' are each really well-written and draw you into the world. This is no exception. What else is fabulous is that the females are all strong.
Conor is a gargoyle who thought he was in love with Dayton, a half Angel. After she falls for Marcas (other series), Conor is given another assignment by the Gargoyle hierarchy, Emma, a half demon. They travel to a school for demons.
It was really good, short though. A lovely twist at the end.

5.0 out of 5 stars The mastermind of R.K. Ryals is at it again!!! 5 Oct. 2012
    Format:Kindle Edition
*BOWS DOWN* to this phenomenal new series. Just as spectacular as "The Redemption Trilogy"

I received this book from Author R.K. Ryals herself for my enjoyment and my fair and unbiased opinion in a review.

I was so sad when The Redemption series ended, I didn't want to think that there was no more of our Dayton and Marcas. But, at the same time I did want ti see where Regina was going to take the rest of the characters and us along with them, to see how they would develop within themselves.

The Acropolis us the beginning of what's to come next. Woot, woot and the main character is my favorite gargoyle Conor!! Our favorite gargoyle returns to captivate us, as his story is told. He's a gargoyle this we know, he's a guardian and a protector this we too know, but what is the rest of the story of him?

Conor has a new charge, (he misses his Dayton though) and her name is Emma Chase. Flighty, skittish and scared of everything and everyone. But, yes she has a reason to be this way.

Emma has been sick (or so they thought) for the last 6 years of her life, going from doctor to doctor, test after test... No one can/could figure out what was wrong with Emma. But, yes there were those that did. Why else would Conor who is a protector-guardian be assigned to Emma?

Yes, there are secrets that will come out about Emma, answers to questions sought after not only by the doctors, but by Emma herself for 6 years. Remember everyone has thought that she was dying.
