3.0 out of 5 stars A Good Read Albeit Predictable 20 Mar. 2013
I have read a fair few books in this genre and was looking forward to reading this one. So with bath run, bubbles poured, and some peace and quiet I settled in. The story starts in a hotel bar when man meets woman and as the title suggests, he presumes she is a call girl. Off to a good start i thought ..... Unfortunately the book hasn't quite lived up to my expectations. I found that I never really got to know the characters past the basics, which meant for me that although the sex was there (in abundance i might add). it wasn't the kind of toe curling , hot under the collar reads i have become accustomed to. Lizzie the leading lady is a strong women who knows her own mind, which for me was a plus point. John the leading man was quite predictably a billionaire and of course devillishly handsome, and far from being a super control freak. The book does contain the obligatory gay flat mate with issues (getting a bit bored of those), although this time the presence of said character did give rise to a descriptive male on male scene. Apart from a couple of titbits about everyones past, which for those wanting to read i won't spoil by mentioning, that was about all i learnt about the characters, from the waist up. Too much sex and not enough story , would probably sum this book up for me. That wasn't to say it wasn't a nice easy read, but i'm afraid in my opinion thats all it was .............nice. Not really what i want from a book from this genre. And to top it off a most predictable ending, so this book could stand alone, however with it being part of a series, i think personally i would of liked more of a cliffhanger.

I will be reading the Accidental Mistress in the hope that the characters may get some more depth, as i believe all things deserve a second chance.

I did like this book, and it would be perfect for a flight or a day in the sun, but it wasn't up there with my favourites

5.0 out of 5 stars Adored this book 23 Jan. 2014
By Lucy Felthouse VINE VOICE
I adored this book. It's typical Portia Da Costa - incredibly well-written, funny, great characters and settings, and with sex so hot I'm surprised the pages didn't get scorched. Yes, it's a book about a millionaire and a normal girl, but the difference is, this author's been writing since before erotica became fashionable, and I hope she'll still be doing it after the wave has ebbed. A seriously hot, fun and romantic read, and one that had me immediately picking up book two once I'd finished this one. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars 100% must read. 1 May 2013
By Lilly
I really loved this book! Portia's books are always well-written and have great, strong characters.

Lizzie (the accidental call girl) is a breath of fresh air with her ballsy attitude and I really enjoyed her character. John (our typical handsome billionaire) is sexy and exciting, I love that he has a back story that gets me wondering and tales to tell of his past other than the typical 'X happened and now I like BDSM' which appears in this genre way too much.

The Accidental Call Girl does have a predictable storyline but I didn't mind when reading it thanks to the characters and the quality of writing. The plot of being mistaken for an escort is actually refreshing as it means skipping the, often rushed, romancing at the beginning! The sex scenes are great (and plentiful!) and I really liked that the romance grew steadily and at a more believable pace than other erotic books.

I definitely recommend this for a read and I can't wait for the next installment!

4.0 out of 5 stars an accidental enjoyment 28 May 2013
By cartoon
The opening scene when Lizzie and John meet in the hotel bar is brilliant , I laughed out loud and I knew that I would really enjoy this light read . maybe a little more about their past histories and a little less predictable plot [ there was a check list feel to some of the sex described ; gay scene check , eyes wide shut party check ] I could have really began to love this ... a week after reading not much has stayed in my mind to review .

5.0 out of 5 stars The Accidental Call Girl 22 Mar. 2013
I was hooked on this book right from the start and it is a very good read. It wasn't until I finished the book that I realised that it was part of a Trilogy. However, the ending for this book does not leave you hanging so you do not have to buy the follow-ups, although I certainly will, and would encourage anyone to do the same.
