`Updated, foul-mouthed, chavved-up versions of the Disney-friendly trad tales. So we get Jack and the Weedstalk, The Butt-Ugly Duckling, The Crack Piper of Camden, Hansel And Britney and The Princess and the Oven Chip. Not one for your nieces and nephews.' --Zoo Magazine, 10 Oct 08

Product Description

Sit back, relax and allow Hans Christian Asbosen to tell you fantastical stories of far-away lands. Once upon a time there were...Hansel and Courtney and their trail of Wotsits, Jack and the Weedstalk, Snow White and the Seven Dads and Bling-erella. Not quite as traditional as first glance might suggest, these hilarious reworkings of traditional classics are a wonderfully acerbic look at today's society. "The Asbo Fairy Tales" are fantastically packaged to resemble a traditional book of fairy stories, with great comic illustrations of the unique characters. There's "Little Red Riding Hoodie", the "Crack Piper of Camden", mistakenly enlisted to rid London of its rats, and "Sleep-In Beauty", who is cursed with an addiction to fairydust. "The ASBO Fairy Tales" will be the essential Christmas gift for 2008.

Fun fun fun 10 Jan 2009
Format:Hardcover
Having read "pop goes the weasel" which I enjoyed, I thought i would read this. I was not disapointed. If you have a wicked sense of humour then i would buy the ASBO fairy tales. It's very very funny in places and made me laugh out loud. Enjoyed telling some of the tales to the children around the dinner table to there great amusement!! Very trendy. Having also read "Now then lad" which is brilliant, am going to read the new "Jack Sheffield" book. Both however are a completly different type of read.

I bought this just before Christmas and I was not dissapointed at all. I had previously read 'Politically Correct Bedtime Stories' and this one includes the same amount of humour that will have you laughing outloud, like I was when I read it on the bus.
I also am an A-Level English student and I am currently doing a piece of coursework on how fairy-tales have changed over time, looking closley at 'Rapunzel', and is ideal for other English Language students to focus coursework on.
The language and lexical choices are clever and amusing and really are very stereotypical to the lower social calss of England, with implied references to Jeremy Kyle and Simon Cowell.
It is most certianly worth purchasing this because you won't be let down at all.

This really is a very funny book, well worth a read. Not intended for your little ones, it certainly gives the old stories a new lift.

Funny and unique
Very funny take on the traditional fairy tales that we all grew up with. Don't think you can tell these tales to your children at bedtime though!
